An ‘iconic’ pub is gearing up to reopen after being closed for four years. Brookhouse Mill in Denbigh shut in 2022 following the tragic deaths of its owners in quick succession.
The site was placed up for sale by the Hall family, who had owned the location for 43 years. It was bought in 2024 by local pub group Stange & Co in 2024, whose portfolio includes The Cottage Loaf in Llandudno and The Erskine Arms in Conwy,
A latest update on the Brookhouse Mill Facebook page said: “What a week! Here are a few snaps of the team who have all been hard at work getting our lovely pub ready to open and what a fantastic job they’ve done.

In January this year, North Wales Live reported how they had announced plans to create 35 jobs and add a sun terrace and new garden room after securing a substantial funding injection of £850k from NatWest to support its latest investment.

Work on the redevelopment started last year with a major revamp taking place and the aim was to get the pub open in spring, but there was no set date.
The pub, on the busy A525, was once an 18th-century water mill that drew its water from the Afon Ystrad.
Speaking previously, Stange & Co said: “The pub has all the attributes to be a cracker and we’re sure after a little work to get it back open, it will become a pub we and Denbigh can be proud of once again.”
