Panorama to air MAFS investigation about sexual assault allegations
MAFS is one of Channel 4’s biggest hits in recent years
Channel 4 series Married At First Sight is the subject of a new BBC1 Panorama investigation involving sexual assault allegations. An episode of the award-winning documentary series called The Dark Side of Married at First Sight is due to air tonight at 8pm.
As first reported by the industry magazine Broadcast, The Panorama is fronted by BBC News culture correspondent Noor Nanji. As part of her investigation she has spoken to three women alleging sexual misconduct by their former on-screen husbands.
The identity of the men and women are at the centre of the investigation are not known at this stage.

But in its programme description, the BBC said that the men involved deny all the allegations against them. Channel 4 and CPL Productions, the indie that makes the show, described the show’s welfare procedures as “robust and comprehensive”.
On the BBC website the programme information also states: “Panorama investigates allegations that raise serious concerns that welfare procedures on the reality show have failed contributors, leaving them at risk of harm.”
In a statement when approached by the Mirror, Channel 4 said: “We have not seen the programme and will comment when we know more.”
MAFS is one of the channel’s biggest and most successful series. It sees strangers matched together and they then walk down the aisle and hold a mock wedding before getting to know each other and living together in the hope of finding love.
Having started in Denmark in 2013, the format is so successful there are now 35 versions around the world. On Channel 4 it regularly attracts audiences of over one million viewers.
