Catmose College student George Smith has seen a fantastic start to the athletics season rewarded with a place at the top of the rankings.
Smith has been named as the United Kingdom’s leading javelin thrower for his Under 14 age group after impressive opening to his campaign.
The Peterborough and Nene Valley Harrier threw an outstanding 48.71 metres in the javelin in his first meeting of the season at the East Anglian Track and Field League.

This was followed up by an impressive 46.88 to take gold at the Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland County Championships where he also took silver in the shot put after a throw of 9.36m.
