A crash near the Devon County Show is causing major disruption this morning (Friday, May 22) as the second day of the event kicks off.
The A3052 is currently blocked in both directions between Valley Road and Greendale Lane, with all motorists not heading to the show asked to advised to avoid the area.
Traffic-monitoring site Inrix logged the disruption at 7.26am shortly before gates opened, noting “slow traffic due to recovery work and accident”.
Thousands of people are expected to flock to Devon during the three-day event, which began yesterday (Thursday May 21). IT takes place at the Westpoint Arena outside Clyst St Mary, drawing in the crowds as farmers, producers, rural businesses and volunteers come together to show the spirit that defines Devon’s countryside.
Major A-roads near the venue, including the A376 and the A3052, are expected to be more congested as a result, and there could be more delays than usual on the M5 at junction 30.
Gates opened at 7.30am with trade stands opening at 9am. Sophie, The Duchess of Edinburgh, was at the show on Thursday.
