And, as expected, it will be a midweek fixture that will see The Wire play three times in the space of 10 days later this year.

The Warrington Guardian can reveal that Sam Burgess’ side will travel to Sewell Group Craven Park on Tuesday, August 18, in between home games against York Knights and Huddersfield Giants.

In order to accommodate the fixture and give the Warrington squad a day of extra rest, it is understood that the York fixture will be pushed back 24 hours from Friday, August 14 to be played on Thursday, August 13.

As things stand, the Huddersfield game will remain on Sunday, August 23.

It is not yet known whether or not the Robins will make any adjustments to their calendar, but it appears likely given they are due to host Toulouse Olympique just two days after the Warrington fixture on Thursday, August 20.

The two sides were due to meet in Round Two but Hull KR’s involvement in the World Club Challenge forced the fixture to be postponed.

It had been mooted that the game could be played on a Challenge Cup weekend should either side exit before the final, but the two sides being paired together in the semi-finals put paid to that idea given at least one of them would then be walking out at Wembley Stadium on May 30.
