One person has been arrested and a murder investigation has been launched following an incident in Eston on Saturday night.

The force received a call from a member of the public at around 11pm on Saturday 23 May, officers attended Ayton Crescent, where a man was found with significant injuries. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Following a rapid response, including support from the National Police Air Service, an arrest has been made.

A 39-year-old woman has been arrested and remains in police custody, enquires are ongoing to locate a second suspect.

Police will remain at the scene on Ayton Crescent, with cordons in place, while the investigation continues. There will be an increased and visible police presence in the area to provide reassurance to the community.

Superintendent Daryll Tomlinson, who has led the investigation overnight, said:

This is a fast-moving investigation, and we have quickly made an arrest. I would like to thank members of the public who have come forward with information, as well as the National Police Air Service for their support through the night.I would like to reassure the community that this is an isolated incident, with no wider risk to the public.
