A new food waste service has created additional pressure on bin collections and led to some not being emptied, a council meeting heard.

South Kesteven District Council cabinet member Rhys Baker agreed the recent introduction of the weekly service, which is currently being rolled out across Lincolnshire, had created “teething issues”.

Baker, cabinet member for environment and waste, was responding to concerns raised by councillor Sarah Trotter about collections in her Lincrest ward at the local authority’s annual general meeting on Thursday.

“We’re also aware that there are some long-standing teething issues that need a bit more investigation,” Baker said.
