Academy hooker Tomas Gwilliam has committed his future to Bristol Bears after signing a new contract with the club.
The 23-year-old young front rower has made 15 first-team appearances since signing professional terms in 2021, scoring four tries, continuing his development through the Bears pathway system into the senior squad.
Director of Rugby, Pat Lam, said: “Gwill is another really positive example of the talent coming through our Academy system.
“He’s developed hugely over the past few years, not just physically and technically, but also in his understanding of the game and what it takes to perform consistently at this level.
“What stands out most with Gwill is his attitude. He’s eager to learn, he works hard every day and he’s constantly looking for ways to improve his game. While he has great role models and mentors in Harry Thacker and Gabs Oghre, I know he will want to push them both hard next season.
“We’re excited about his future and look forward to seeing him continue to grow with the Bears.”
Gwilliam said: “I’m really proud to extend my time with Bristol Bears. I love the environment here and working with world class players and coaches every day.
“I’ve learned a huge amount since coming into the senior environment and I feel like I’m improving all the time.
“The club has been brilliant for my development and I know there’s still a lot more growth to come in my game. I’m hungry to keep improving, keep learning and take every opportunity that comes my way.
