Whale spotted near Port of Immingham confirmed dead

A whale spotted at the Port of Immingham has been confirmed dead, wildlife rescuers have said.

The minke whale was reported to Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue (CWR) on Wednesday evening, with volunteers attending the scene.

The British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) and HM Coastguard were alerted to the report.

A BDMLR spokesperson said the whale was carried into port on the front of a ship, adding: “It is not clear if the whale was already deceased when it was struck by the vessel.”
