Cabin crew onboard a Ryanair flight from Liverpool were forced to contact police over the behaviour of “unruly” passengers’ on the flight. Police met the Ryanair flight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport as it landed in Malta today, May 28 after passengers became disruptive onboard.
An eyewitness on the flight told the ECHO how the group were “playing loud music, being disruptive and refused cabin crew requests to turn off the music and behave.”
They said: “They were really loud and had started drinking their own duty free vodka. The cabin crew told them off [but] they still did it and then had it confiscated.
“The pilot had already made an announcement asking them to be quiet, which they ignored.
“The second announcement from the pilot was that police would be arresting them upon landing for drinking duty free alcohol. One of them moved seats as the plane came in to land to avoid being arrested but was still identified.”
When the flight landed in Malta fellow passengers were reportedly instructed to keep their seatbelts on while the “unruly” group were led off the flight.
The eyewitness added: “They were put on a bus and shuttled to the airport. I saw them being processed by police and then being released.
“Staff said Ryanair have zero tolerance and would be looking for prosecution.”
A Ryanair spokesperson said: “Crew on this flight from Liverpool to Malta (May 28) called ahead for police assistance after a small group of passengers became disruptive onboard.
“The aircraft was met by police and these passengers were removed.
“Ryanair has a strict zero tolerance policy towards passenger misconduct and will continue to take decisive action to combat unruly passenger behaviour, ensuring that all passengers and crew travel in a respectful and stress-free environment, without unnecessary disruption.”
