Former Manchester United duo Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund are set for a major change at Napoli after Antonio Conte’s departure from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Former Juventus and AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has reportedly agreed a deal to take over from Conte at Napoli.

The 58-year-old was sacked by AC Milan after failing to qualify for the Champions League, but won’t have to wait long before returning to the dugout.

Allegri will reportedly sign a two-year deal as Conte’s successor, according to Sky Sports, but the move hasn’t gone down well with Napoli fans.

Some Gli Azzurri supporters are not happy with the appointment and have launched an online campaign to protest the decision.

They claim Allegri’s managerial profile does not align with the club’s vision, having last won the Serie A title in 2018 with Juventus.

Despite a plethora of Italian titles, Allegri’s recent spell at Milan turned sour, and there’s been a complete overhaul at the Italian club since his departure.

McTominay has been one of the standout performers in Serie A since his move to Napoli from United in 2024, helping the club win the Serie A title in his first season.

His fine form in Italy has seen transfer speculation surface, linking the Scottish international with a return to the Premier League and Conte’s departure will only fuel those rumours further.

McTominay was joined by former United teammate, Hojlund, in Italy last season, but the duo were not able to help the club defend their Serie A title.

Napoli finished in second place, 11 points behind champions Inter Milan. Hojlund was only on loan with the Serie A club, but his move to southern Italy is set to become a permanent one for £38 million.

United agreed an obligation-to-buy the Danish forward which would see the move made permanent if Napoli qualified for the Champions League.

Although the deal has not yet been formally confirmed, Hojlund is expected to complete a move to Napoli in the coming weeks. Conte’s departure from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona should not have an impact on any future transfer.
