Emergency crews responded yesterday afternoon to reports of a concern for the safety of a man in the water on a stretch of the River Yare near Ferry Road in Surlingham at 2.33pm.

The search continued today and the man’s body was discovered after the use of sonar equipment and a dive team, with police confirming the find at 5.27pm.
Police say the man was in his 40s and his next of kin has been told.
The death is being treated as unexplained but it is not believed to be suspicious.
A file is being prepared for the coroner.
A police cordon remains in place following the incident.
The search involved police, fire, coastguard, air ambulance, and search teams from Norfolk and Suffolk.
