After multiple changes in date, Salvador Rodriguez reports that Andrew Moloney has withdrawn from his scheduled IBF super flyweight final eliminator against Argi Cortes.
I don’t blame Moloney at all. Having to constantly adjust your training camp and weight cut on your opponent’s home turf sounds nightmarish.
Cortes (27-4-2, 11 KO) will remain on the card against 20-year-old Colombian Bairon Rodriguez, who’s dropped three of his last four. The status of the eliminator is unclear; Vince Paras sits behind Moloney in the IBF rankings, then Jayr Raquinel and Ryusei Kawaura. Champion Willibaldo Garcia shouldn’t be due for a mandatory defense for a good while yet, so they’ve got time to figure things out.
