The family of a motorcyclist who died after a crash on the M60 motorway said hospital medics ‘worked tirelessly to save his life’ as they issued a loving tribute to ‘a man taken too soon’. He’s been named as 58-year-old Andrew Peak.

Police were called to reports of the collision involving a motorbike on the motorway near Stockport last Saturday afternoon (July 12). Mr Peak was taken to hospital, but sadly died on Monday, police confirmed.

The collision happened shortly after 1.40pm on the anti-clockwise side of the motorway between junctions 25 and 24.

In a tribute to Mr Peak, his family praised Salford Royal Hospital and the North West Air Ambulance, saying they would now be raising money in his memory.

They said: “Andrew sustained major injuries following an accident whilst riding his motorcycle on the M60 on Saturday 12th July.

“Without the attendance of the emergency services and rapid response from the North West Air Ambulance, it would not have been possible to transport him to hospital for further medical care.

“The medical team at Salford Royal Critical Care Unit worked tirelessly to save his life over the following 48 hours. Unfortunately, Andrew’s injuries were so severe that he sadly passed away on 14th July, surrounded by his family and friends.

“Andrew will be missed dearly by his family and friends, a tragic loss of a man taken too soon.

“We would like to thank everyone who was involved with the care of Andrew from the roadside to the hospital.

“As a family we have decided to fundraise for the North West Air Ambulance, which operates solely on the generosity of public donations, and have set up a Just Giving page for anyone who can donate.”

Police said investigations were continuing.
