Sydney Sweeney has once again stirred online debate about her relationship with Zendaya after fans noticed she left her out of a recent behind-the-scenes Instagram post marking the end of filming for Euphoria season three.

The actress shared a carousel of images reflecting on her time as Cassie Howard, a character whose chaotic storyline has remained one of the most talked-about elements of the HBO drama.

Her post featured several cast members, including Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, and the late Eric Dane, as well as various off-camera moments from set.

What quickly stood out to fans, however, was Zendaya’s absence from the tribute. Given that Zendaya plays Rue, one of the central figures in the series, many viewers interpreted the omission as significant.

Social media users began speculating that it pointed to a continuing rift between the two actresses, reigniting rumours about tension behind the scenes. Over the years, online talk has repeatedly attempted to frame their relationship as strained, though neither has publicly confirmed any issues.

The latest speculation has been fuelled further by past observations from fans, including separate arrivals at premieres and minimal public interaction during press events.

Some online commentators pointed to these moments as evidence that the pair are not particularly close, despite sharing a major ensemble project.

Some of these rumors have included speculation about Sweeney’s reported interactions with actor Tom Holland, which circulated heavily on social media in past years.

Behind-the-scenes remarks and cast dynamics fuel speculation

Adding another layer to the discussion, Euphoria creator Sam Levinson spoke about Sydney Sweeney’s strong connection to her character Cassie and her commitment to the show’s more challenging material.

In interviews, Levinson revealed that he once considered reducing or removing nudity for Sweeney’s storyline in season three. However, he said the actress pushed back against the idea, arguing it would not make sense for the character’s arc.

“Well, it’s funny. When I first wrote it, I was like, ‘Maybe we shoot all of this and we don’t have any nudity. Maybe there’s ways to shoot around certain things?’” Levinson said.

“And she looked at me and she was like, ‘Are you kidding? I’m playing an OnlyFans model. You’re telling me you’re going to, like, skirt around it?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, OK, that’s a fair point.’”

Despite the persistent rumors surrounding the cast, there is no confirmed evidence of a feud between Sweeney and Zendaya.

In fact, much of the narrative appears to stem from fan interpretations of social media activity and fragmented behind-the-scenes moments. Even earlier claims that Sweeney was absent from cast photos were later explained as scheduling conflicts due to filming commitments.

Still, speculation continues to thrive online, with fans dissecting every interaction for hidden meaning.
