Channel 5 drama The Fortune premieres tonight, exploring the real consequences of “buried truths”.
The Fortune is almost here, with the four-part thriller making its debut this evening, Tuesday, June 2, on Channel 5.
The limited series follows a family whose apparently contented existence is thrown into turmoil when mother Amanda (portrayed by Eleanor Tomlinson) unexpectedly comes into a substantial inheritance.

Amanda is left stunned when she learns she stands to inherit a sizeable estate and a remarkable £2 million from a man she has never encountered.
But what prompted him to leave his fortune to Amanda, and what secrets will she unearth along the way?

Amanda is brought to life by Eleanor Tomlinson, widely recognised for her acclaimed portrayal of Demelza Poldark in the BBC romantic drama Poldark.
Among her other notable credits are The Outlaws, War of the Worlds and The Couple Next Door.
Anthony – Callum Woodhouse

Callum Woodhouse is perhaps best known to audiences as Tristan Farnon in the beloved Channel 5 period drama All Creatures Great and Small.
His additional credits include The Durrells, Raven’s Hollow, Monster Island and Cold Feet.
Woodhouse takes on the role of Anthony, the affluent and vindictive son of Amanda’s mysterious benefactor, who is determined to prevent her from claiming her inheritance.
Jimmy – Matthew Lewis

Jimmy is Amanda’s husband, who is eager for her to accept the inheritance without hesitation – but could there be a deeper motive behind his insistence?
Actor Matthew Lewis shot to global stardom through the iconic Harry Potter franchise, portraying the beloved character Neville Longbottom.
Since his breakthrough, he has appeared in Me Before You, a number of episodes of All Creatures Great and Small as Hugh Hulton, and most recently in Murder Before Evensong on Channel 5.
Martin – Denis Lawson

Martin is the affluent benefactor who passes away and bequeaths his fortune to Amanda for reasons yet unknown.
He is played by actor Denis Lawson, best known for his role as Wedge Antilles in the original Star Wars trilogy, as well as Tom Campbell-Gore in Holby City.
Fiona – Rebecca Front

Fiona is Martin’s widow, who is fiercely opposed to his wealth being handed over to Amanda.
Actress Rebecca Front is renowned for her roles as Nicola Murray in the comedy series The Thick of It, Karen Kelly in Avenue 5, Lady Whitworth in Poldark, and Tess in The Other One, among many others.
Boots – Stephen Tompkinson

Completing the cast is Boots, a man enlisted by the Worralls to locate Amanda and stop her from claiming the inheritance.
He is portrayed by actor Stephen Tompkinson, whom audiences will recognise as Marcus in Chancer, Damien Day in Drop the Dead Donkey, Father Peter Clifford in Ballykissangels and Alan Banks in DCI Banks.
Linda – Paula Wilcox

Actress Paula Wilcox is well known for playing Chrissy Plummer in the ITV 1970s sitcom Man About the House and Elaine Jones in Coronation Street.
She has also featured in Emmerdale, Mount Pleasant, Upstart Crow, Girlfriends, The Lovers and Boomers. Wilcox is cast as Amanda’s mother Linda, a care home resident battling dementia who possesses crucial details regarding the family’s troubled history.
Laura – Nina Wadia

Actress Nina Wadia is perhaps most recognised for her portrayal of Zainab Masood in EastEnders, alongside appearances in the BBC Two sketch programme Goodness Gracious Me.
Her credits also include Aunty Noor in Citizen Khan and Mrs Hussein in the BBC sitcom Still Open All Hours.
Wadia takes on the role of solicitor Lauren Mistry in The Fortune, whose revelation to Amanda about an unforeseen inheritance sets the story in motion.
The Fortune premieres tonight, Tuesday, June 2, at 9pm, on Channel 5.
