The dazed muntjac left behind a trail of destruction after crashing through the study window and a greenhouse at the home of Daphne Van Loenen in Malvern.

Fortunately, the wild animal appeared unharmed after its escapade on Sunday (May 31).

The homeowner from Malvern Link said: ” I walked down my garden and saw something in the bushes.

“I quickly realised it was a muntjac.

“My garden is enclosed, so it must have jumped from one of my neighbours’ gardens, which is slightly higher than mine.

“It saw me and panicked. It was running around and could not get out. I went back inside. It couldn’t get out, and then I heard a crash.

“At first, I thought it had gone into the fence, but when I came back inside, my dog was barking. It had leapt through my study room window and onto my desk, and left droppings on the carpet.

“It dashed back out, but I could not find it, so I thought it had jumped back over.

“So I let the dog out, and then it shot out and went through the greenhouse.

“My dog chased it, but fortunately, it did not catch the muntjac.

“The poor animal, it was possibly hurt.”

Muntjacs in the UK

Muntjacs are commonly seen across the UK, especially in the South West, after arriving in the 20th century.

The 82-year-old added: “My study is full of my granddaughter’s boxes, so to get under the desk and clear the mess was quite the ordeal. It was pretty exhausting.

“It was quite dramatic for a Sunday afternoon in Malvern.

“It was such a bizarre occurrence. I had seen one before in the woods, but not in the centre of Malvern Link. They are very shy animals.

“My daughters were horrified when I told them I had been under my desk dealing with it.”
