Coronation Street fans think they have figured out what Sarah Platt and Gary Windass are really hiding, and it’s not an affair after speculation that the former couple reunited on the night of Theo Silverton’s murder.
As those who follow the ITV soap know, Gary is one of several Weatherfield residents in the frame after the abuser was killed back in April. He was revealed as the victim of the latest murder to rock the cobbles, after the storyline was confirmed in February in flashforward scenes.
At the time, it was revealed that either Theo, Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Megan Walsh or Maggie Driscoll would be killed, before being found by a horrified Betsy Swain on the night of her mum Lisa Swain’s wedding to Carla Connor.

The behaviours of the five possible victims left fans guessing for months as to which could be the one to be found dead, and it wasn’t until a week after the wedding actually took place, on April 23, that a Betsy was seen discovering Theo’s lifeless body.
A ‘whodunnit’ is now underway as DS Lisa Connor-Swain and DC Kit Green line up who they think is responsible for the villain’s demise. As well as Gary, Corrie previously confirmed Todd Grimshaw, George Shuttleworth, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd and Danielle Silverton as the six potential suspects.
While the investigation is ongoing, Summer Spellman has been charged with Theo’s murder after all the evidence so far pointed in her direction, and Tyrone Dobbs lied about seeing her on the night the abuser, who was alive at the time, was killed.
It’s been revealed that in upcoming scenes, following Kit’s return from his secondment to Wales, he’ll have his sights set on Gary, determined to prove he was the one who killed Theo. It comes as Corrie fans have been suspicious of his and Sarah’s recent interactions, with the former couple openly defending one another.

The most recent moment came during Thursday’s (June 4) edition of the ITV soap. Sarah’s daughter, Bethany Platt, was seen getting her hair done by her uncle, David Platt, at the salon as she marked her 26th birthday. She shared how her mum had forgot and when Gary popped in, his wife, Maria, shared: “Sarah’s in the dog-house because she forgot!” It led Gary to respond: “What, and you’re all surprised? It’s not long since she got attacked. I’d cut her some slack.”
Later, at Bethany’s birthday meal at the Bistro, Sarah was subject of digs after forgetting her daughter’s birthday, to which she eventually replied: “”Can everyone just get off my back? I’ve had a traumatic head injury!” But when Jodie arrived and started asking questions about Theo’s murder investigation, Sarah looked uncomfortable and made her excuses to leave.
Back at home, Sarah spoke to Kit, as he questioned whether Maria would lie to give Gary an alibi. Meanwhile, in the Rovers, Maria questioned Gary’s closeness to Sarah because of their history, which again saw Gary jump on the defensive.
It left Corrie fans speculating as to what is really going on between Gary and Sarah, and it’s not that they’ve been involved in a secret tryst that they’re trying to cover up.
@mikepriestley13 said: “Either Sarah killed Theo or she helped Gary kill him… #Corrie.” @ThomasR14336083 commented: “Could Sarah have found Theo’s body, saw Todd’s mobile lying next to him, took it believing Todd had somehow been involved & gave it to Gary to dispose off? Then she went to No.8 to gather herself. #corrie.”
@CavoloChe asked: “I wonder if Sarah killed Theo and told Gary? #Corrie.” @Alitheredwitch added: “I’m deffo thinking Sarah did it. At first I thought, maybe she’s covering for Gary, but the way she jumped up from that table when Jodie mentioned CCTV and the way she was digging for Kit to spill info then Kit saying he HAS covered for Sarah #corrie.”
