I suppose the easiest way for Vertigo Games to decouple shooter Arizona Sunshine from PSVR2 would have been to just re-release it as a flat-screen FPS. In some ways, it’s gone the extra-mile with this third-person version then.

Frustratingly for our game database, this new game is called Arizona Sunshine; the old versions have been renamed Arizona Sunshine VR. Erm, I can’t tell you the kind of untold issues this will wreak on our creaky old CMS. Gee, thanks guys.

PSVR2 Fave Arizona Sunshine Sheds Virtual Reality, Goes Third-Person on PS5 2

Anyway, this sure looks like Arizona Sunshine from a Resident Evil-style perspective. To be honest, without the novelty of virtual reality, it all looks a bit static and naff – I understand the dev wanting to reach as many players as possible, but I’m not sure the summer setting alone is going to carry this.

The game will feature split-screen and online co-op, and you can even play as dog Buddy if you want. But the shooting looks beige in this reveal trailer, so I’m not convinced by this.

It’s due out in 2026 at some point, although no specific release date has been attached.
