Ibrahima Konate is set to be confirmed as a Real Madrid player, but things could have played out very differently.
Firstly, a new contract could have been agreed between him and Liverpool. He could have also stayed in the Premier League with The Athletic stating that Chelsea made a basic check on Konate’s availability.
The Blues are in need of defensive reinforcements, particularly players with experience, which would have made Konate the perfect addition. However, he will instead be joining Xabi Alonso’s former club.
