Channel 4 are premiering their brand new drama In Flight on Tuesday night (August 12), but what’s it about, who’s in it and where have you seen them before?
It’s been a stellar year for UK TV to date, with a number of series from these shores taking off both at home and abroad.
Leading the pack is Adolescence, with the Steven Graham Netflix mini-series driving important conversations at home and in the Government.
On top of this, Scottish crime drama Dept. Q, Disney+’s A Thousand Blows and ITV’s Code of Silence have all gone down a storm with viewers.
Looking to become the nation’s next obsession is a Channel 4 series, which stars a Coronation Street legend in the lead role.
What is In Flight about?
In Flight follows a single mum named Jo, who works as a flight attendance, who’s life is turned upside down when her son is imprisoned in Bulgaria for a murder he claims he didn’t commit.

After being approached by a mysterious gang member, Jo begins smuggling drugs over the border through her job in an attempt to save her son before it’s too late.
The official synopsis reads: “As Jo becomes ensnared in the murky underworld of corruption and hired killers, she is forced to carry out their orders while desperately trying to find a way out.
“She turns to her ex, Dom, for help. However, no matter how far Jo finds herself from her old life, her mission remains the same: to keep her son alive.
“Set against the fast-paced, high-pressure backdrop of international air travel, In Flight follows Jo’s relentless quest to protect her family while entangled in a dangerous criminal syndicate.”

Leading the series is none other than Katherine Kelly, best known for playing Becky McDonald on Corrie from 2006 until 2012. Since wrapping up her time on The Cobbles, Katherine has gone on to appear in Mr Selfridge, Happy Valley, The Night Manager, Mr Bates vs the Post Office and Inside No. 9.
The series’ big bad Cormac is portrayed by Stuart Marin, who after appearing in an episode of Game Thrones, went on to find success in Netflix films Army of Thieves and Rebel Moon parts 1 and 2.
Ashley Thomas, who is also a rapper who goes by the stage name Bashy, has popped up in popular programmes Black Mirror, The Night Of, 24: Legacy, Salvation and Top Bo.
As for the rest of the cast, former Hollyoaks actress Bronagh Waugh delivered a memorable performance in Derry Girls, Harry Cadby shined in Derry Girls, Corinna Brown introduced herself in Heartstopper and Ambreen Razia won acclaim for her work in Ted Lasso.
