The expression “monkey business” usually has a negative connotation. This is especially true when it comes to things that our primate cousins are willing to do for food. Some of them will even break into homes to steal food.

But the monkey in this video didn’t do anything like that. In fact, their behavior was quite the opposite. They were as polite and gentle as could be when a kindhearted woman decided to give them a scoop of ice cream.

This monkey very calmly waited for this woman to serve them an ice cream cone. They didn’t try stealing anything or causing a ruckus to get this frozen treat.

They didn’t even display the tiniest hint of impatience while this woman was scooping the ice cream. This monkey simply patiently waited. They looked at the woman, just waiting.

And when she finished putting the scoop of ice cream into the cone and handed it over to the monkey, this primate very politely took it from her.

Perhaps this monkey understood and appreciated this woman’s kindness and wanted to repay her generosity with politeness?

Many viewers on social media were deeply moved by this woman’s act of kindness toward this monkey: “This woman’s heart is clean and pure.”

Viewers also shared that they loved this video because it’s an example of people being kind to animals: “I love to see people also treat the animals with kindness and care.”

Many comments also praised this woman’s kind, generous nature: “This was so nice to see. God bless this woman!”

Why This Monkey’s Behavior Is Surprising

Monkeys can become very aggressive when it comes to finding and claiming food. As highly social creatures, they will form dominance hierarchies that sometimes determine which monkeys get access to the food in their group, and how much of it.

Unsurprisingly, scientists say that when it comes to food, our primate relatives are very opportunistic creatures.

Although it’s possible for monkeys to be friendly towards humans, if they are in a region where they are used to being fed, experts warn against anyone who is not a trained professional approaching a wild monkey.

Doing so can be dangerous for both the monkey and humans involved. Any kinship someone believes they’re experiencing with the monkey they’re feeding is less about camaraderie than it is about our primate cousins’ desire for food.

Experts also say that monkeys are very good at distinguishing human differences, such as gender, age, and even nationality.

It’s possible for them to get a sense of who they are dealing with, especially in high tourist areas, and they will sometimes resort to stealing valuables, which they will then return in exchange for food.

But nothing of that nature happened in this video. This monkey was remarkably calm and polite throughout this encounter.

Maybe this monkey sensed that this woman was a kindhearted soul? Maybe she’s given this polite primate ice cream before?

Whatever the case may be, it was a gentle, quietly powerful moment, serving as a much-needed reminder for social media viewers about the simple and touching nature of a genuine act of kindness.
