Inspectors from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) carried out an announced inspection of Bupa Dental Care on Silverwell Street on May 11 and found the practice was meeting all required standards.
The positive report comes at a time when access to NHS dental appointments remains a concern for many patients across Greater Manchester.
The watchdog said the practice had effective systems in place to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control measures.
Inspectors also found staff were providing care and treatment in line with current guidance.
A report published following the visit stated: “Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance.
“They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.”
The inspection also highlighted the practice’s leadership, with the CQC noting there was “effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement”.
Staffing arrangements were also praised.
Inspectors found employees had the skills, knowledge and experience required to carry out their roles and said recruitment procedures reflected current legislation.
Feedback from patients was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising both the professionalism of staff and the quality of communication during appointments.
The CQC said patients were “very complimentary about their treatment, the kindness and attitude of the staff and the cleanliness of the practice”.
Among the comments left by patients were: “I was given time to decide whether or not to go ahead with treatment”; “They always tell you what they are going to do”; and “My dentist explains everything to me in a clear and understanding manner.”
Other patients described staff as “professional, respectful, kind and attentive” and praised the surgery’s cleanliness.
The Silverwell Street practice has been serving patients in Bolton since 1993 and is operated by Silverwell Surgery Ltd as part of the Bupa dental group.
It provides NHS and private dental treatment for adults and children and has seven treatment rooms and a team of 26 staff.
