The team India management is currently caught in a tight situation when it comes to finalising the squad for the upcoming Asia Cup tournament. There is a lot of discussion happening about the vice captaincy position and also the opening slot positions.
It is nearly confirmed that Surya Kumar Yadav is likely to return as the captain of the side as he is recovering from his injury and is already training in the nets in Bengaluru. He is confirmed to be captaining the Indian team in Asia of this time.
When it comes to the vice captaincy position, there are two contestants here, and they are Axar Patel and Shubman Gill. Both of them have been in fine form in recent months, and it has to be seen who would actually be given the position.
The crucial point of difference when it comes to the final squad selection is going to be the team composition in itself. It is nearly confirmed that Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharshan are not likely to make it to the final due to the prevailing form of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson. With Surya Kumar Yadav, also in the mix, the top order looks pretty much sorted.
KL Rahul is also not likely to be considered in the final team as he cannot bat in the middle order. Subsequently, could he could also be snubbed from the team.
The final square is likely to be announced either on August 19 or 20, and we’ll get more clarity on this matter then. The Asia Cup tournament is going to start from September 9 and India will be taking on UAE in their opening game, which is scheduled for September 10.
