Portland Town Council said the work on the courts at Victoria Gardens on the island had been completed, which included both courts having been remarked.

The entrance path had also been lowered to sit level with the gate making the facility fully accessible, it added.
There are new tournament regulation posts and nets as well as a new fence and gate.
“The new facility looks fantastic and is a great asset to the island and is free for all to use – we hope you enjoy using them,” said the town council.
The gardens in Portland were opened in 1904 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria, which was in 1897.

There are grassed and formal bedding areas and a large rockery
As well as the two tennis courts, there is also a bowling green.
