Well this is a rather interesting rumour, isn’t it?
A new report from MP1st claims that CD Projekt Red has an unannounced co-op action RPG in the works at a currently unconfirmed studio — and it’s set in the universe of The Witcher.
This supposedly free-to-play project is targeting PC and mobile platforms right now, but there’s already speculation with regards to an eventual console release.
Having said that, there’s apparently no word on a potential launch window yet, and so it’s difficult to discern just how far along the game is in terms of production.
The report does, however, delve into way more detail than I thought it would — so MP1st’s anonymous source must be impressively in-the-know.
For starters, you’ll be playing as your own custom character — a Witcher from a time when the monster-slayers were much more common.
You’ll take on contracts to tackle various beasts across a range of environments, which obviously draws comparisons to something like Monster Hunter. Combat rewards the precise timing of blocks, dodges, parries, and subsequent counterattacks.
MP1st points out that CD Projekt Red did establish some sort of deal with a company called Scopely back near the beginning of 2025. Scopely is a California-based, “mobile-first” publisher and developer — and so you can see how all of this might line up.
Now, obviously, we don’t know the scope of this thing. It’s possible that it’s a lower budget, mobile-focused release — in which case it may never be intended for a console audience.
But this report makes it sound somewhat ambitious — the kind of free-to-play multiplayer project that starts off on PC and mobile, but eventually ends up on PlayStation once it’s all up and running (and making decent money).
