Rick and Morty season 9 has welcomed another A-list star to its large roster of guest actors, with Owen Wilson showing up to voice an unsurprisingly affable new character.
He rose to fame with American comedy classics like Zoolander and Wedding Crashers, and has enjoyed a resurgence of late thanks to high-profile gigs including Marvel’s Loki and Apple TV’s Stick.

Rick and Morty co-creator and executive producer Dan Harmon has been back on the media rounds this week, following a celebratory chat with Space.com about the restoration of the show’s critical reception.
The screenwriter had a candid talk with Polygon about how the show’s portrayal of Rick’s alcoholism is partly influenced by his own struggles, repeating the old adage that “you write what you know”.
Last week, Harmon also shared that he’s found himself inspired by cutting-edge shows like Severance, Widow’s Bay and Black Mirror to “get back in there and participate in making people happy”.

When is Rick and Morty season 9 episode 5 out?
Rick and Morty season 9 episode 5, titled Jer Bud, will premiere on Adult Swim on Sunday 21 June 2026 in the US, with the UK release to follow on Monday 22 June via HBO Max.
Previous seasons have aired first on Channel 4 in the UK, but that arrangement ceased following the long-awaited launch of HBO Max in the UK earlier this year.
In the US, Rick and Morty season 9 will be available on HBO Max eventually, but from the later date of 15 June 2026. Until then, it will be exclusive to Adult Swim across the pond.
