Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale fans have been left feeling totally shocked by what they are describing as the “nastiest episode ever”.

In upsetting scenes, which aired yesterday, the soap aired a dark twist for Vinny Dingle as newcomer Mike brutally targeted Vinny in a homophobic attack.

Viewers will know that in recent episodes, Vinny has been confused about his sexuality, hiding his feelings from his fiancée Gabby Thomas.

In search of support, Vinny befriended a man online named Mike, who turned up in the village yesterday, telling Vinny there was an attraction between them.

In a shocking turn of events, Mike told Vinny that everything he said was a lie, threatening to destroy Vinny’s family if he didn’t meet his demands.

Mike violently attacked Vinny, demanding £10,000. After threatening Vinny with a recording of their conversation, he stole Vinny and Gabby’s wedding rings and left.
