It was a mixed moving day for the Irish at the Meijer LPGA Classic in Michigan as Leona Maguire slumped to a second consecutive missed cut, but Lauren Walsh moved up the leaderboard.
World number 79 Maguire, who has had a rollercoaster season thus far, carded a second round of one-over-par 73, to finish in a tie for 94th place, and two shots off the cut.
The Cavan golfer made a decent start to her round reeling off eight straight birdies before making a birdie four, on 18; her ninth hole of the day.
From there however, the 31-year-old wavered, making bogeys on her 11th and 15th holes to drop outside the cut mark.
It was not a similar story for Lauren Walsh however, whose second round of three-under-par 69 saw her move 41 places up the leaderboard on day two and just one shot inside the cut.
The Kildare woman found herself at three-over through three on Thursday but has been soaring since then, making a fast start to Friday’s round.
Starting on the tenth, Walsh birdied 12 and 13 but dropped shots on the 15th and 17th holes to move back to level par for her day.
An eagle on the par five 18th catapulted her up the leaderboard, and two more birdies with a bogey in between saw her card a round of 69, and move up to a tie for 49th.
America’s Jing Yan leads the way on ten-under-par with England’s Lottie Woad and Australia’s Cassie Porter just one shot behind at the halfway stage. Yan and Woad both shot bogey free rounds of six-under-par during Friday’s play.
