Ahead of a forecast heatwave, bin crews across the county, including Southampton, New Forest, Eastleigh and Fareham, will start their rounds earlier.

Residents under the New Forest District Council are asked to put their waste containers out by 5am on their collection day, with crews beginning early collections on Tuesday, June 23.

Those who typically receive an early collection are encouraged to place bins out the night before, no earlier than 6pm.

A spokesperson for the New Forest District Council said: “NFDC will work to complete all scheduled collections; however, high temperatures may impact the speed of rounds.

“Residents whose bins have not been collected by 3pm are asked to report the issue by midday the next working day.”

Southampton City Council have asked residents to put their bins out by 5.30am while temperatures are high.

A spokesperson for the council said: “With temperatures set to soar, Southampton City Council are starting their collection rounds earlier to help keep crews safe in the heat.”

Residents under Eastleigh Borough Council have been asked to put their bins out either the night before collections or by 5.30am on the day.

Fareham Borough Council has also said bin collections will start earlier from Tuesday due to the heat.

They have asked residents to put bins out the night before.
