United fans want to see Newcastle sign a new centre-forward, according to the results of our transfer poll on Chronicle Live.

Newcastle spent £124million on new forwards last summer to sign Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart and Yoane Wissa from Brentford but Woltemade ended the season in midfield and Wissa managed just three goals in an injury ravaged campaign.

As such, the Magpies may well be tempted to move for a striker in the market but that would almost certainly mean one of their current three striking options would have to leave.

Of the thousands of fans who voted, 46 per cent wanted to see a new striker as the priority, while 24 per cent want to see a winger through the door next to succeed Gordon.
