Aitch records a music video in Manchester
Manchester rapper Aitch took over Deansgate as hundreds of fans joined him to film scenes for his latest music video.
The Moston performer, who first made a name for himself by freestyling on YouTube, was in town just two days after making a special unscheduled appearance at this year’s Parklife.
Taking to the stage during fellow Manchester act BOU’s set on Saturday, he joined the DJ and producer at the Heaton Park festival for a performance of their hit Raving In The Studio as well as his latest solo single Ring My Bell.

To coincide with his latest single, Aitch headed into the city centre on Monday afternoon (June 22) to film the music video for the track. Ahead of his appearance, he took to social media to invite fans along to take part – choosing to set up shop outside the Egg & Co store, which is a popular spot for the artist who is friends with owner Umer Khalid.
Just a few weeks ago, Aitch had hosted a treasure hunt around the city for fans to try and find a bell in order to win cash. With clues dotted around the place about its location, it was the egg sandwich shop where the bell was ultimately based.

Umar says he was contacted just minutes before the music video yesterday took place with the rapper’s team first jokingly asking if they could borrow a plug for their tech equipment whilst in the city. Aitch and his team then turned up outside the shop ready to film.
Speaking of the video shoot, owner Umar told the Manchester Evening News: “He put a message out on Instagram saying he would be filming in Deansgate at 4pm and told everyone to bring their dad, their mum and their grandma and to put on their dancing shoes.
“He had to arrange it all at the very last minute otherwise it would have turned into something crazy but there were still hundreds of people who turned up – it was madness.”

Umar, who plays padel with Aitch, said he has been impressed over the years of knowing Aitch how he has remained grounded in his roots and stayed humble despite his successes. He appeared on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here last year, whilst his second album, Four, continued his trend of reaching the top ten.
“He’s been a pillar of support for me personally,” Umar explained. “I’ve been going through quite a bit in the last few weeks and he’s been keeping in touch and it’s really meant so much. He’s such a great guy – him and his crazies – and he’s always out there looking after his friends and supporting people.
“He is a massive character, but he never says no to a fan. Even when we’re out with him playing padel, he never turns a fan away.

“And he is always so big on local businesses – he’s local so he always supports local when he can. It’s a massive deal for us – it helps get our name out there, especially at a time when it can be quite difficult to spread the word.
“He told me that we’ve shown him love, so he wanted to show it back. That’s just the way he is.”
Umar said they are planning on displaying the treasure hunt bell in store in the coming weeks, and are also working on a number of partnerships with local charities to help continue the message of supporting one another.
