Investors, politicians and environmental NGOs have welcomed the UK government’s announcement to move forward on long-awaited action to tackle illegal deforestation.
On Tuesday, the government said it aims to operationalise regulations under the 2021 Environment Act which include prohibiting businesses from using illegally produced forest risk commodities, and establishing and reporting on due diligence systems for each commodity.
