The World Cup and Keir Starmer’s resignation have had a big impact on Monday’s TV schedule

The BBC has been forced to reschedule its programming throughout Monday afternoon and evening due the resignation of Keir Starmer falling on the same day it broadcasts two World Cup matches.
The BBC will show Argentina’s match against Austria from 5.30pm as well as France v Iraq, which kicks off at 10pm. The double header for the BBC means its flagship programmes have had to be moved on the day of a huge news event.
The Prime Minister announced his resignation this morning, with the Beeb having to change it’s plans throughout the day.
Due to the World Cup clash there is no room for any other programmes in the BBC One schedule, with rolling news coverage and football the only thing on the channel all day and night.

The normal 6pm news has been replaced by a 4.30pm news special, while what would be the News at Ten is being shown at 8.30pm.
A BBC statement read: “The News at Six and Ten has been rescheduled today because of the World Cup.
“We’ll have live coverage on BBC One all afternoon with the latest on the PM’s resignation, plus BBC News Specials at 16:30–17:30 and 20:30–21:30, presented by Sophie Raworth from Downing Street.”
