Janet, who plays off a very useful handicap of 15, is playing four rounds of golf in 24 hours to boost Hospice funds.

She started at Bolton Golf Club, where she is a member, at 5.30am and finished when she sun went down at 10.30pm.

For the first 18 holes she was accompanied by her Springer Spaniel Rory and for the second 18 she was joined by the club’s Lady Captain Pat Mackrill, who caddied for her and whose chosen charity for her year in office is the hospice.

Her third 18 holes will be played at Bolton Old Links in the Bolton Ladies’ Golf Championship qualifying rounds before she returns to Bolton GC for the final 18 holes. She will have played 72 holes altogether.
