Plans were put forward by Mr and Mrs Harmer for the property on Walsingham Road in East Barsham near Fakenham.

The bungalow, likely built in the 1950s or 1960s, is described as being in “very poor condition”.

Planning papers highlighted the lack of planned maintenance or refurbishment to the site, other than installing uPVC casement windows.

There were also overgrown hedges which had given the site “a highly unattractive appearance”.

Under the new proposals, the build will be one-and-a-half storeys tall with an ‘H’-shaped footprint made up of two unequally sized wings.

The southern wing is the larger of the two, containing the bedrooms and shower rooms across two floors.

The northern wing would consist of the main living areas, including a kitchen, dining room, living room, and utility room.

Other features planned for the home include a detached garage and two garden areas.

The building, described as “oil-heated” and “thermally inefficient”, would also be replaced with an energy efficient site, featuring solar panels and rainwater harvesting for garden and external washing use.

Previous proposals were put forward for the home last year, but these were withdrawn.

A design and access statement said the proposal will bring forward a replacement home “more suited to contemporary occupation”.

The statement added that the home will have “no significant economic impact” but will provide” a short-term benefit and support to local services and trades”.

It continued: “The replacement would also offer a chance to entirely remediate the plot by the complete removal of the unnatural ‘over-burden’ created by the former occupant”.

North Norfolk District Council is due to make a decision on the plans at a later date.
