Rogaine’s active ingredient is minoxidil, a vasodilator that relaxes blood vessels to improve blood and oxygen flow to hair follicles, extending the growth phase of hair follicles before it naturally sheds.
Rogaine is a topical foam product that you apply directly to the scalp everyday (sometimes twice a day depending on instructions). Although the 5 per cent treatment has been marketed towards men, many experts argue that it’s a form of gender bias in marketing. Originally, women were marketed 2 per cent topical treatment, but 5 per cent has since been found to be safe for women, too.
Shoppers say they’re “genuinely impressed” with regrowth results and has been “great for menopause hair-thinning.”
Note: Minoxidil is highly toxic to animals, particularly cats. Even trace amounts from your pet sleeping on your pillow or contaminated clothing can be fatal. Be sure to follow instructions or speak to a healthcare provider about oral medication alternatives.
