Whether you’re desperately shutting every window in your house during the day, running yourself an ice bath, or trying to get by on a teeny tiny handheld fan, the heatwave is getting to us all.
It’s all very well frantically trying to stay cool, and while we might all be dreaming of installing air conditioning, it’s not the most affordable option.
Portable units can cost anywhere from £100 up to £400, and if you want it properly installed, then you might expect to pay at least £750 for one unit, and then around £1,100 for the installation.
So, you’ll be glad to know that Aldi, the king of Specialbuys and unique Middle Aisle finds, is launching a solution to this heat: a portable air cooler.
At £14.99, this won’t break the bank, and it comes with three speed levels and a touch control panel. It puts regular cooling devices to shame, as it uses water and ice evaporation technology to lower the room temperature.
The water tank is removable, so you can top it up whenever you need, and you can choose from three colours: a nice cool grey, blue, or light blue.

Alas, you won’t be able to recruit this bad boy to help you conquer the heat this weekend, as it’s launching in stores next Thursday, July 2.
However, it’ll still come in handy, as at the moment, the Met Office is forecasting highs of 26°C in London then. And, at the end of the day, it’s still only June, so there are a good couple of months left of summer.
Now, because this is a Specialbuy, there’s no telling how long Aldi will have this product on offer for. And with the weather currently being at Earth’s core levels of toasty, it’s likely you’ll need to snap one of these up quickly.

As part of the same range, there’ll also be a globe fan with an oscillating setting (retailing for £39.99), a summer breeze king duvet (£9.99), a coverless duvet (£12.99), and a fan complete with a flexible tripod (£6.99).

Looking for other options? Shark’s ChillPill 3-in-1 Personal High-Speed Fan features a high-speed fan, ultra-fine evaporative mist, and an InstaChill Cooling Plate for instant cooling when temperatures rise.
The mist adds an extra burst of cooling indoors or outdoors, while the cooling plate helps reduce skin temperature on contact for quick relief from the heat. It’s pretty pricey, as it typically goes for £149.99, but there’s currently an Amazon Prime Day deal on that’s whacked it down to £119.99.

Cheap and easy ways to keep your home cool when installing aircon isn’t an option
No air con? No problem.
Simply put a bottle filled with ice and a tablespoon of salt into your freezer, and the salt will help the freezing point of the water go even lower, creating colder ice.
Once you’ve done that, put the bottles in front of the fan.
As the ice melts, the breeze from the fan will pick up the cool air coming from the ice’s surface, recreating a cool breeze, similar to an air conditioning unit.
Alternatively, a bowl of water in front of the fan, or a wet towel placed over a fan, works just as well.
Plus, a room will stay cooler if curtains and blinds are closed; even better if they’re the blackout variety.
An open window will also let hot air into the house, which, if you have a fan on the go, completely defeats the point.
