GTA 6 will launch without a Blu-ray disc, causing frustration among physical fans.
Rockstar hasn’t cited a reason for its decision to ship the most anticipated game of the generation as a code in a box, but the likelihood is to avoid leaks, which surely would have happened if retailers broke street dates.
As a result of that, there were rumours earlier this week that a disc-based copy of GTA 6 could release as early as December, meaning patient players would simply need to wait.
Now The Hollywood Reporter has poured cold water on that report, citing a source “with knowledge of the plans”.
It claims “there are no plans for GTA 6 discs to be printed – not at launch, and not months after”.
I personally believe a Blu-ray version of the anticipated open world game will happen eventually, but I wouldn’t expect it for a year or more.
The good news is that any potentially delayed physical release would ship with all of the patches installed, so every cloud has a silver lining, doesn’t it?
