A Scouser wowed the America’s Got Talent judges with an incredible performance on the latest season. Alex Blanchard jetted off across the Atlantic to perform in front of the judges on the 20th season of the NBC talent show.

The dancer performed in front of a panel of judges that included Simon Cowell, Mel B, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara. Spice Girl Mel was wowed as soon as the 18-year-old opened her mouth and she heard her Scouse twang. The 50-year-old said: “Oh my god, are you from Liverpool? Are you kldding me?”

Simon was similarly thrilled to see a Liverpool as he referenced his recent visit to the city. He said: “I love Liverpool. I was up there a few months ago. I love the people.”

Alex confirmed she was still based in Merseyside and had made the 11 and a half hour trip alone to perform in front of the AGT judges. Alex proceeded to wow the judges with an innovative dance performance to Sweet Disposition by the Temper Trap.

The electrifying performance blended acro and gymnastics into an incredible routine that deservedly earned a standing ovation form the crowd. Mel was particularly impressed as the Wannabe singer said: “I don’t know what you call that.

It wasn’t just acro contemporary dance. It was something that I’m guessing you created yourself. It was brilliant. You left everything there on that floor.”

Howie praised Alex’s transformation, as the comedian said: “There was a transformation once the music started and once you started to go. We see a lot of troupes and crews.

“For one person to exude that energy and athleticism was pretty spectacular.” Modern Family star Sofia said: “My favourite thing is dancing, but I liked this was not just dancing.

“You did a lot of gymnastics so that made it really exciting.” Simon added: “It looked like you put in a ton of work. I really loved that you’ve come all this way at your age.

“It takes guts to do that. You did a great job.” Alex received four yeses from the judges and the cliup has since gone viral, receiving over 340,000 views on YouTube.

Alex has since re-shared the clip on her Instagram account as she captioned the post: “THANK YOU TO ALL MY AMAZING TEACHERS !!!!!! I wouldn’t have been able to do it without you all , I’m so very grateful I got to experience something so amazing!”

The talented dancer includes links to Liverpool Theatre School and the Wilkes Academy of Performing Arts on her Instagram bio. She did not progress to the live shows, but the incredible viral performance on AGT is just the start of her amazing journey.

Many followers took to the comments to praise the Scouser after her performance. Faye said: “Unbelievable @_alexblanchard_ well done!!! Very proud of you.”

Dara added: “Your audition was [fire emoji] Loved everything about it and a fave song!!” Shel posted: “Omg absolutely unreal Alex well done girl u have smashed it.”

During his visit to Liverpool last year, Simon spoke to the ECHO and he spoke about how much he loved the city. He said: “I love the people here. Every time we’ve filmed here, I’ve always had a great time. I love the audience and I’m always fighting with producers saying we’ve got to film in Liverpool again because we always have the best time.”

Simon said nowhere can generate an atmosphere quite like Liverpool as he recalled how moving the Britain’s Got Talent auditions to the city for a previous season reinvigorated the whole format. He said: “I felt the show had been a bit flat the year before which can happen.

“And then we came up here, I looked back [during the auditions] and I could hear the energy. Looking around, I thought this is like being in a party, it’s bloody brilliant. And then when I watched it back, we had all the soundbites [from the crowd] and I thought, ‘this is its own show’. The audience just talking about the acts was better than we were.”
