Both Coronation Street and Emmerdale are facing changes to their usual schedules on ITV due to the World Cup coverage

Coronation Street fans are eagerly awaiting their next visit to Weatherfield as the long-running show continues to face disruption to its airing schedule on ITV.
Viewers have got used to their daily fix of cobbles drama after Corrie became part of a ‘soap power hour’ alongside fellow ITV soap, Emmerdale, back in January.
The major schedule change meant that half-hour episodes have since been airing for each show every weeknight, which the network said at the time was because ‘viewing habits continue to change’.

However, more recently, Corrie fans have been treated to the previous hour-long episodes, which come amid ongoing changes to how fans can get their regular soap viewing due to coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which kicked off earlier this month across the pond.
Last week, Corrie aired only on Monday (June 22), Tuesday (June 23), both for half an hour at 9.30pm, and Thursday (June 25), for an hour from 9pm.
And now, there has been confusion as to when the Salford-based programme will next be on air. According to current TV guides, the soaps will return on Tuesday (June 30), with both Emmerdale and Corrie airing for an hour each, at 7.45pm and 8.45pm respectively.
It is then on Wednesday (July 1) that viewers will see the return of half-hour episodes, but they will air slightly earlier due to the World Cup at 8.15pm. Emmerdale will air at 7.15pm, with Corrie following at 7.45pm.

There will then be no more episodes for the rest of the week, with Thursday (July 2) and Friday (July 3) schedules dominated by coverage of the World Cup.
It will, however, be a big week in Corrie as Megan Walsh’s trial takes place. Ahead of things getting underway, Maggie Driscoll, Ben Driscoll, and Eva Price are gobsmacked when Janine Walsh, Megan’s mother, walks into the pub. Janine tells the trio how sorry she is for her daughter’s behaviour and how she’d like to help. Incensed, they order her out.
And soon, Janine returns to Megan’s car and admits there was no sign of Will. Megan breaks down in tears and tells her mum how Will took advantage of her when she was vulnerable, and she could end up in prison as a result. Taken in by her performance, Janine approaches Will on the street. What is she up to?
Meanwhile, in the Rovers, the family fusses over a nervous Will as he prepares for court. While at the mental health unit, Sam Blakeman frets about Megan’s trial, worried she might be found not guilty and then come after him for revenge.
Later, in court, Will’s pre-recorded statement plays out, his family listens, overcome with emotion. However, when his barrister questions him, Will’s met by Megan’s steely gaze. Will he crumble? Soon, with Megan’s trial underway, Ben takes the stand and is brutally cross-examined by Adam Barlow. In the dock, Megan paints herself as the innocent party and questions Ben’s parenting.
Later, Will calls at No.4 and tearfully explains to Tim how he’s messed everything up, and he doesn’t know what to do. Later, the teen tells his family that if the judge allows him to testify again, he wants to tell the full truth about what happened.
He enters the witness box and prepares to give evidence, but when he faces Megan, will he go ahead with it? Soon, the Driscoll’s return home and tell Ollie that Megan’s fate is now in the hands of the jury.
