Coronation Street star Mollie Gallagher has quit after more than six years, and has already filmed her final scenes in the role of Nina Lucas.
The actress made her debut as the niece of Weatherfield stalwart Roy Cropper in 2019 and quickly became a more regular fixture in the ITV soap. It wasn’t long before she became a standout star on the cobbles as the long-running drama tackled a horrifying hate crime storyline, which claimed the life of Nina’s boyfriend, Seb Franklin.
After the heartbreaking storyline, Mollie won the award for Serial Drama Performance at the National Television Awards (NTAs) in 2021 as well as Best Newcomer at the Inside Soap Awards.

Things have been less dramatic for Nina in Weatherfield as of late, particularly following her support for her uncle Roy back in 2024 when he was wrongly imprisoned for the presumed disappearance and murder of Lauren Bolton.
But now, it has been confirmed that Nina will soon be seen leaving Weatherfield after Mollie decided to bow out of the Salford-based programme after six and a half years.
And she has already secured her next role as she’s set to make her professional stage debut as Clarice Starling in the UK and Ireland tour of Silence of the Lambs.
The news was confirmed by a Corrie spokesperson to Digital Spy, who said: “Mollie has created a unique and well-loved character in Nina over the past six and a half years, and everyone will be sorry to see her go.

“It is fantastic for Mollie that she has been given this incredible opportunity to play such an iconic role and we wish her all the best for the theatre tour.”
Las year, Mollie was among those able to support Roy actor David Neilson as he picked up the Oustanding Achievement Award at the British Soap Awards. The award was presented to the Corrie legend, who joined the show nearly three decades ago, by Julie Hesmondhalgh who played Roy’s late wife Hayley Cropper.
Taking to Instagram following the star-studded event, Mollie shared a picture of herself and David and said: “Roy and Nina// David and Mollie… It’s still wild that at my graduation I was waiting to hear to see if I was going to be playing Roy croppers niece. Now here I am almost 6 years later with my on screen uncle celebrating the icon that David is.
“Imagine 21 year old me on my first job getting to work with David Neilson on the daily. Very lucky. Thanks for being the best David xxxxx Also look at us both wearing blue.”
