Former Coronation Street star Kym Marsh celebrated her big 50th birthday in style – taking over a stylish neighbourhood bar with her family and friends. TV star Kym looked in dazzling form as she headed out with her new love, fiance Tom Dickinson, to celebrate the landmark birthday with a big bash.

And the couple decided to head to the coast for the revels, booking out a bar in a suburb of Southport for the occasion. They took out Suzie’s Bar in Churchtown, which boasts a botanical theme inside, as well as a large terrace outside that has become a popular local hotspot.

Indeed, it was so hot on the night of Kym’s do that she had to do a Mariah Carey-style outfit change partway through the night after arriving in a stunning black sequinned Balenciage dress with full sleeves.

Kym, who first found fame in the noughties as a pop star in the band Hear’Say, was later pictured in a strappy black dress instead to make the most of the sizzling temperatures in Southport at the weekend as the UK basked in the recent heatwave.

Friends shared pictures from the night on Instagram with many sending their well wishes to Kym in the comments. That included her former Hear’Say bandmate Danny Foster who said: “50 years of you! Sorry we couldn’t be there, all the love for another trip around the sun.”

Meanwhile fans of the star couldn’t help but share their love for her glamorous and ever-youthful appearance on the night.

Joyce Murray Nealon wrote: “Kym you could not be 50 your [sic] gorgeous and so young looking great figure too have a fantastic Birthday.” Hugh Terry said: “Sure it’s not 40?” while bellagioglobal added: “Happy 50th kym you don’t look a day over 40”.

Kym has had a busy start to 2026, having just finished the national theatre tour of Single White Female alongside Lisa Faulkner. Kym starred as the psychotic flatmate in the drama based on the blockbuster 90s film winning rave reviews along the way.

She finished the run on her actual 50th birthday, celebrating with her cast and crew before returning home for her party with family and friends.

Earlier this year, in promotion for her theatre role, she told the MEN how she was feeling about heading towards her half century. She said: “I feel fine about it you know. It’s just a number.

She joked: “It’s not like I hit 50 and go ‘oh quick get my bus pass’.”

Mum-of-four Kym was looking seriously loved up on the night too with her beau Tom. The couple earlier this year became engaged after their whirlwind romance.

It has been 20 years since Kym first made her debut on the famous Corrie cobbles. The actress was a staple face on the street, playing Michelle Connor from 2006 until 2019, which is when Kym revealed she’d decided to leave the ITV soap after 13 years.

Confirming her departure in a statement at the time, she said: “When I was lucky enough to be offered four episodes on Coronation Street I could never in my wildest dreams have thought I’d be here 13 years later.

“It’s been an incredibly difficult decision but it feels like the right time for me to take a break from the show and explore some other roles. But this isn’t the last you’ve heard of Michelle Connor, she’ll be back! I can’t wait to see what the writers have in store for the future.”

The years have since passed by and Michelle is often missed in Weatherfield, especially through times of hardship for her son Ryan Connor and Carla Connor, who was her third cousin as well as former sister-in-law.

She is often mentioned by fans as a character who is well overdue a Corrie return, although as yet there’s no update on when that could happen.

Since the end of her theatre tour, Kym has made a return to her guest presenting role on the BBC’s Morning Live alongside Gethin Jones.
