Sandy Lyle became the third ex-Open golf champion to play the Duddingston course when he dropped by as a private guest in the company of a club member.
The Scot, who triumphed at Royal St George’s in 1985 and won the US Masters three years later at Augusta, is pictured alongside Duddingston’s Katie Graham who joined as assistant to club pro David McMullan at the beginning of this year.
In years gone by Duddingston has been graced by the presence of Peter Thomson, a five times Open champion who is believed to have shot an imperious 63 during an exhibition match, and Bobby Locke, a four times Open winner.
