The Legends posted 138-5 from their 20 overs, setting the Comets a challenging target. Undaunted, the Millig Comets responded superbly, finishing on 117-6 after their 20 overs to fall just 21 runs short.
Throughout the afternoon, the Comets showed exactly why the future of girls’ cricket at Helensburgh is so bright.
The club said: “There were some outstanding moments with the ball, sharp fielding, excellent catches and confident batting against a side full of quality and experience.
“In the end, the Legends’ know-how proved decisive, but every one of the Comets can be immensely proud of their performance.

“More importantly, today’s match provided invaluable experience for our young players and marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our club.
“The biggest winner today wasn’t either team – it was girls’ cricket in Helensburgh.”
The club thanked the Legends for making the special occasion possible, as well as everyone who came along to support on the day, and team sponsors Helensburgh Toyota.
They added: “This is only the beginning.”
