Police are appealing for witnesses to an attack that has left a man in a critical condition
A man has suffered life-threatening injuries after an attack in the early hour of Saturday morning, police said. Dyfed-Powys Police said it is investigating an incident of serious assault that occured in the town centre of New Quay in Ceredigion.
The force said the incident happened in Margaret Street leading to Uplands Square, at approximately 12.51am on Saturday morning. A statement confirmed a 20-year-old man sustained serious, life-threatening injuries.
Police said he was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
There will continue to be a police presence in the area over the following days.
The road has now been reopened to the public.
Police said their enquiries are progressing, led by CID and the major crime team.
A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and is in police custody.
