Clarkson wrote in a post to his followers on X that he has been trying to decide the answer for years, believing it to be a toss up between North Devon and the Yorkshire Dales.
But he said: “I’ve just spent the last three days in the Scottish Borders and now I have an answer.
“God almighty they’re beautiful.”
The star said he also bought some cows there, destined for his farm in the Cotswolds, perhaps indicating that his visit to the border region could appear in a future episode of Clarkson’s Farm.
A runaway hit, the most recent series of the Amazon Prime documentary ended on an uncharacteristically sombre note as Clarkson started treatment for an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
The prognosis on Clarkson’s condition appeared to be positive at the close of the final episode, thanks to the treatment he had received but the health scare followed a series of difficulties at Diddly Squat Farm.
Clarkson and co. were unable to produce a substantial yield due to the extremely hot, dry spring/summer period in 2025 and they learned that a cow pregnant with twin calves was culled unnecessarily for tuberculosis.
