Leigh Leopards boss Adrian Lam has confirmed an extended deal for one of their young talents who is also the son of a Super League legend.

Lam knows plenty about father and son combinations in Super League, coaching his own son Lachlan who currently leads Super League for assists in 2025 with a whopping 30, going at a rate of almost 1.5 per game.

Lachlan’s success in creating tries has seen Leigh shoot up the league table into third after a slow start following a heavy recruitment cycle. Now those recruits have settled in, the Leopards are reaping the benefits.

One of the players who Leigh signed ahead of the 2025 campaign but has yet to make his debut is Will Brough, the son of Super League legend Danny Brough.

Playing almost 250 games for Huddersfield, Brough sits second in the all-time rankings for goals kicked in Super League, and Adrian Lam has now confirmed that his son Will has signed a new deal with Leigh.

Leigh Leopards coach touts ‘one for the future’

It was initially reported that Will Brough had signed a one-year deal with Leigh with the teen understood to be off contract at the end of the year, however, Adrian Lam confirmed that wasn’t the case.

“He’s got a two-year deal with us. It was a one-year deal, but we’ve extended on that,” the Leigh Leopards coach revealed when speaking to the media on Wednesday.

He added: “We saw the talent early on in him and we’re pretty excited really. Whatever that position may be, whether it’s centre or half or full-back, I think we’ll work that out in the future but he is one for the future for our club.”

Brough has been out all season with a shoulder injury but looks set for some game time with League One flyers Midland Hurricanes after joining them on loan until the end of the season.

Speaking about Brough, Lam said: “He’s got a great bit of humour about him around the place, a very popular member of the group, but very young too.

“He had a shoulder reconstruction, so he missed the majority of the season with that, so he hasn’t been able to push for that starting team. I think he’s one for the future for us.

“To get out to Midlands and play a bit of time was great value for him and certainly he’ll get a lot of confidence back from that injury moving forward.”

Brough played in the halves for Midlands in their loss to Whitehaven this past weekend, marking his first appearance of the year and kicking two from three off the tee.
