Coronation Street star Tina O’Brien has unveiled a slight change to her appearance after she was involved in a major twist for the long-running show, 27 years after she made her debut.

As those who follow the ITV soap know, the actress is famed for playing Sarah Platt, and just last month the character was revealed as Theo Silverton’s killer in dramatic scenes centred on a dinner party hosted by Sarah’s partner, DC Kit Green.

As Corrie fans saw, the reveal comes after Theo’s lifeless body was found by a horrified Betsy Swain back in April, on the night of her mum, Lisa Swain’s, wedding to Carla Connor.

The storyline had already been confirmed in flash-forward scenes aired in the long-running show in February, in which Betsy was being interviewed by police after discovering the dead body of someone she knew.

Eventually, a week after the wedding aired, it was revealed that Theo was the victim, which came after he tried to torment Todd one last time. His death has since triggered a murder investigation, with Corrie confirming Todd as a suspect, along with George Shuttleworth, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd, Gary Windass and Danielle Silverton.

But as Corrie fans now know, it wasn’t any of the six, as it was Sarah who was uncovered as Theo’s killer following a dark flashback to the night in question. Viewers saw Sarah receiving a suspicious text from Todd’s phone. She headed to the flat he had shared with Theo when she was confronted by the dastardly builder on the scaffolding that had been erected outside.

A drunk Theo prodded and poked Sarah’s emotions, even bringing up the son she and Todd had lost 21 years earlier. But as their confrontation became more sinister, as Theo threatened Sarah with violence, the Underworld factory manager defended herself by grabbing a metal pipe, which she hit on Theo’s head, sending him crashing to the ground below. And upon realising what she had done, she phoned Gary to help her.

He was soon furious to have been dragged into the mess, but helped Sarah nevertheless. He told Sarah to clean herself up and ensure she had an alibi, and she didn’t need to do much planning on that front, as viewers already know, she was unexpectedly knocked unconscious by Jodie Ramsey.

While fans are worried as to what this could mean for Sarah – and Tina’s – future, the soap star has been using her social media platform to keep her followers updated on what she’s up to and over the weekend, she revealed a slight change to her appearance as she tweaked her trademark hair colour.

She posted a string of photos to her Instagram grid and wrote: “Got my hair did,” to which the comments soon came flooding in. Corrie co-star Sally Carman-Duttine gushed: “BEAUTY! [flame emojis].”

@kellielouisex said: “The darker blonde suits. Perfect for the summer.” @xcodi_spencer commented: “Your hair looks amazing Tina!” @clare_bradley_83 replied: “Gorgeous as always.” @sarahcook844 added: “You are so beautiful! Your hair looks stunning.”

It comes after Tina was heard talking last month about the moment she discovered that her long-standing character would be the one to kill the abusive builder.Speaking on Inside Soap’s Soap Scoop podcast, Tina, who made her debut as Sarah back in 1999, said: “I was told in the green room by a few cast members that, apparently, Theo was going to be murdered and everyone was being called in one at a time who was involved in the storyline.

“So that was my first thing, but I didn’t think I was going to be anything to do with it. I genuinely didn’t. When I was told this, I was like, ‘Oh my god, it’s going to be Summer!’ So everyone, different people go for their meetings and then they’re going, ‘Well, it’s it’s not me. I’ve been told I’m not the murderer!’

“So everyone’s looking at everyone else. And then I was asked to see Kate [Brooks], our producer, and she she sat me down and she said, ‘We’ve got this storyline coming up and you know, we really feel that the way things have been going with Theo that we want, you know, him to to to leave, but we we want there to be a real element of her who done it and it’s going to be Sarah.’ I was just [laughter] like I was really shocked, but really excited.”
