A man has been arrested after a woman in her 30s died in the blaze in Rochdale
Fierce flames could be seen coming from the building
Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman died in a fire on a farm in Rochdale.
The body of a woman, in her 30s, was found inside a stables at the farm in Milnrow. Firefighters were called to the blaze at Higher Tunshill Farm off Tunshill Lane at around 12.30pm on Friday.
Pictures from the scene show fierce flames ripping through the building with thick black smoke pouring into the sky. Today parts of the farm remain cordoned off, while forensic investigators remain at the scene. A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder and bailed by police.

It’s thought the derelict stables may have been under renovation. Witnesses reported seeing large flames and black smoke billowing across the surrounding area, before a large number of emergency services arrived.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 12.30pm on Friday 3 July, emergency services were called to reports of a fire at Higher Tunshill Farm, Milnrow. Sadly, emergency services discovered the body of a woman inside stables at the property.

“A male in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder and has since been bailed pending further investigation. A scene remains in place and enquiries are ongoing.”
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service declined to comment as a police investigation was underway.
The stable is close to Carr Farm, where three-year-old Daniel Twigg was mauled to death by two dogs in May 2022, but it is not part of the same property.
